Lore[]
Óin, son of Gróin, was one of the twelve companions of Thorin Oakenshield and Bilbo Baggins, on the Quest of Erabor. He was noted for his skill at starting fires, as was his brother, Glóin. The two sometimes bickered over it. He traveled with Balin to the Mines of Moria, and was there killed by the Watcher in the Water while trying to escape via the Western Door.
In Peter Jackson's movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Óin is played by John Callen.
Description[]
The Óin minifigure has short tan legs, a short grey cape, a unique hair/beard piece and a unique brown torso with a large belt printed on it. He is equipped with a battle staff. He also has a very detailed face, like most minifigures from this theme.
Official LEGO.com Description[]
(Do not modify)
Along with his brother Gloin, Oin is a distant cousin of Thorin Oakenshield. A brave Northern Dwarf, Oin joins The Company of Thorin Oakenshield out of a sense of loyalty to his kin, and also because he has a substantial sum of money invested in the venture. Well read, with an enquiring mind, Oin is the healer among the Company, often applying an herbal salve of his own invention – which has since come to be known as ‘ointment’ after its maker. (Bet you didn't know that before!) |
